Tucked away in the stunning Millcreek Canyon, Log Haven is way more than just dinner. It's a great experience in the middle of serene nature. It's only a short drive from downtown Salt Lake. The views are excellent with views of cascading waterfalls and the Millcreek Canyon surrounding you. Originally built in the 1920s as a luxury log cabin, this historic spot has evolved into one of Salt Lake City's premier dining spots, known for both its rustic charm and cozy ambiance. The menu complements the atmosphere, offering fresh, thoughtfully crafted dishes. I had the crab cakes and a salad, and both were incredible. The crab cakes were perfectly crispy on the outside with a fluffy and soft interior. The salad was fresh and beautifully balanced. I also had the halibut which was juicy and full of herbed flavors. Put this on your Salt Lake List!

This was our first time visiting Log Haven and we were there celebrating my mother-in-laws retirement. Let me say the location is absolutely breathtaking. Small but beautiful waterfall on the back patio and a great big one across the street which makes for some great pictures We had several of the menu items and they were all unbelievable. The vegetarian option was a little spicy, but that's a complement not a complaint. Otherwise the bison steak, tuna and halibut were just delicious. I'd also recommend getting the bread as well. The freshly churned butter and fresh bread was to die for. Overall this is a great place and short drive from the city. Service was great and they even have a live piano player. Upscale without the snootiness. We will be back.

Food: 4./5 small portions but very delicious! Drinks: 5/5 AMAZING Desserts: 5/5 get the maple crème brûlée! We sat outside in July and it was perfect weather since up in the canyon is cooler. We sat next to the little waterfall and it was so romantic and peaceful. The service was so professional yet still personable. Can't express how much I loved it here. I would highly recommend for anniversaries, birthdays or any holiday. I'd dress in the nicer side but there were a few people dressed casually.

Maybe the primary selling point of log haven is the scenic location and relaxing but upscale log cabin interior. You are far enough up Millcreek canyon that you are mostly secluded from the city and get all the sights and sounds of nature. This aspect alone is enough to make log haven a great location for a special meal. The service also matches the upscale interior and menu price: well worth it. I wish I had taken down our waiter's name to give him a shoutout but he was great. Very cordial and knowledgeable but without the robot like quality that some nice restaurants require of their staff. Finally, the food. It probably won't make a year end list for me but was still tasty and worth the trip. The bitter sweet cocktail was pretty to look at and delicious. The salmon was a little overcooked to be honest, making it slightly chewy. Despite the cook on the salmon, the flavors were top notch. You get the flavor of the wasabi without its overbearing heat. The pork was cooked perfectly which is impressive for such a thick cut and came with some fantastic caramelized vegetables.

Nestled in the scenic beauty of Log Haven, this restaurant stands out as a breathtaking venue, particularly ideal for special occasions. A word to the wise: securing reservations for a large party is a must, given its popularity, so plan ahead a couple of weeks to ensure a spot. The service here is both attentive and amicable, enhancing the overall dining experience. For those seeking a unique twist on beverages, a clever hack emerges--transform any mocktail into an alcoholic delight. The result? A range of super yummy drinks to complement your meal. Now, let's dive into the heart of the matter--the food. Log Haven seems to flirt with an intriguing Asian fusion vibe in its culinary offerings. While the dishes such as pork chop, bison, and New York steak are executed with culinary precision, showcasing impeccable cooking techniques and spot-on presentation, the taste might not elicit the anticipated "wow" factor for the price. It's not to say the dishes aren't good--they are. However, there's a subtle sense that the emphasis leans more towards aesthetics and variety than an unforgettable gustatory experience. The Asian fusion influence adds a funky twist that might not resonate with everyone's palate. What truly steals the show, though, is the ambiance. Log Haven excels in creating an enchanting atmosphere that draws patrons in. It's evident that many visitors are captivated not just by the cuisine but by the overall sensory experience the venue provides. In conclusion, Log Haven offers a delightful evening, with the service, ambiance, and creative drinks standing out as the stars of the show. While the food is undeniably good, the pricing may leave some expecting a more pronounced flavor journey. If you prioritize a captivating setting and friendly service for your special occasion, Log Haven is undeniably worth considering.

Mmmm Log Haven! IYKYK. A nice, scenic drive up Millcreek canyon brings you to the beautiful rustic location of the Log Haven restaurant. The drive is especially lovely in the wintertime. As you pull in, you are greeted by a valet to open the door for your date and take care of your car. It is parked for you across the street next to a beautiful waterfall cascading down the mountain. Once you enter, you are offered a coat check, or if there is no one checking coats, you are free to hang your own coat/hat on their provided hangers. The Maitre D checks you in (reservations are highly encouraged) and you are sat in a wonderful lobby with soft chairs and a warm, crackling fireplace. Once your table is ready, you are taken in and seated in the dining area. Beautifully decorated with cabin décor and lighting. It feels very cozy and inviting. We came in on a Monday for an early Valentine's Day dinner. It was busy but not bad. The drink menu is given and we went for a couple glasses of Riesling. There was already ice water on the table. They also have some house craft cocktails and a quite large menu of drinks and wines to choose from. We ordered a bread appetizer which came with a generous ramekin of butter. It was delicious. We both ordered a salad (Caesar and Kale). The Caesar was just okay and a bit bitter with the purple cabbage used in it. The Kale was better with delicious bits of smoked cheese and cranberries. Their menu isn't large but there are plenty of entrees to choose from. We both decided to try their filet that came with bleu cheese butter on top and a side of cheesy mashed potatoes and French-style green beans. The steaks were both cooked perfectly medium as we requested. So tender and you hardly needed the steak knife to cut it. We normally take a portion of our meal home, but that didn't happen this night. It was just too good to not finish off the plate! After dinner, we were offered a choice of desserts and while we were both full, we could not resist their crème brulee with raspberry topping. It was amazing and to die for. Prices here are not cheap as you would likely suspect, but the atmosphere, excellent service by the staff and fantastic food makes it all worth it. Probably the most romantic restaurant in the Salt Lake City area. We highly recommend Log Haven for Valentine's Day, anniversary or just a fancy date night. Head here and you'll be glad you did!

Fav restaurant in SLC. From the romantic history of the restaurant, to the beautiful surroundings and intimate interior ambience. Reminds me of a little cottage in the forest. This place is truly a gem! (I recommend you check out the history of this place before you come - really nice read). Made reservations two weeks prior due to how booked they were. Came on Dec 24th around 6pm. As we pulled up, we were greeted by valet who parked our car across the street near the waterfall. Trees and bushes were snow-capped and the pathway up to the restaurant was lit with twinkle lights. They have a coat-rack and a cozy seating area next to a fireplace while waiting for your table. They had a gentleman playing some snoopy tunes on the piano for some background. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu and provided great suggestions. I've only experienced bison meat on a burger. I ordered the bison steak au poivre and it was outta this world! Tastes similar to beef and it was very tender...it's a very lean meat. The charred Brussels sprouts with bacon and cippolinis was a perfect paring with the bison steak. I ordered a drink - "The Jersey Transplant" a whiskey based mixed drink with apple brandy and maple syrup. Supppper good. Ended the night with a caramel crème brûlée. I could've eaten two! So so yummy. The drive up to the restaurant was beautiful, especially during a light dusting of snow. If you're looking for a romantic evening, Log Haven is your spot!

My husband made reservations for a date night. Definitely recommend for a nice anniversary or date night dinner. It's pricey! It was like a perfect date. It had snowed a little and the outside looked so pretty like a movie set! Didn't look real. We walked in and were asked to sit in the waiting area which had nice fire place. We got sat near a window which my husband couldn't stop staring out of because of how pretty rhetorical snow looked. We started off with the crab cakes and there were so good! Don't be afraid of the jalepeno. It's not spicy. I got the filet and my husband got the bison steak. Both were really good! My steak medium. Was cooked perfectly, melt in your mouth perfect, the mash potatoes were really good too. I was not a fan of the green beans. They tasted kind of bland to me. I'd prefer the brussel sprouts on the bison plate. The bison had French fries which I think they should just do mash potatoes or another potato. The fries were good but I prefer mash potatoes with a steak. We had a drink but I don't remember the name. It was really good too. Crème bruleee for dessert was really good as well! Our waiter was nice too. Friendly and talkative. I noticed some reviews people upset with bread not being served. You have to request it. It's on the menu $3. Which I think they should just give it to you, you're already spending tons on the main course meal.
